Guys, I am so delighted to have you meet this talented, beautiful and brave individual I am blessed to call sister. I call her brave because it isn’t easy to leave one’s 9-5 job and focus exclusively on one’s passion. Not only did she transition into starting her own business, she does it so effortlessly. Please meet Toluwalase Adeniyi, the force behind “TCN Clothing”.
Tell us a little bit about yourself?
My name is Toluwalase Comfort Adeniyi. I am from Ikenne Remo, Ogun State. I am the last child of my family. I attended Mayflower Junior Secondary School and O&A Academy for my Senior Secondary School; both in my home town. I have a B.Sc in Accounting from Igbinedion University in Edo State, Nigeria. While in University, I had a side hustle; buying and selling of clothes for my close friends. In the last few years, I worked in the banking sector, accounting firm and engineering company before I left for fashion school here in Nigeria after which I started my fashion line known as “TCN Clothing“.
What 3 words would you most like people to use to describe you?
Nice , funny and easy going.
Who inspires you and why?
God, because it can only be him but in person I give it to Dr Ben Carson; his books are highly motivational.
What motivated you to begin your business “TCN Clothing” & how did the name come about?
I really needed to start a side hustle instead of living on a monthly salary income. I decided on this business as I had a thing for fashion and I knew it may be difficult to combined with 9-5 job. So I decided to put my full attention on my business. About my business name, it’s just the abbreviation of my given name TCN full meaning is Toluwalase Comfort Adeniyi.
What would be your advice to upcoming enterprenures regarding balancing a 9-5 job and a business? And what suggestions would you give them in respect to transitioning from a 9-5 job to being a full time entrepreneur.
Honestly, starting is not easy in terms of getting the needed support. One has to be encouraged and never give up. You must have a passion for what you are doing. Don’t expect instant turnover. Give it ur best by maintaining standard and it will surely pay off. It is important to differentiate between business, friends and family as not knowing the difference could be detrimental to your business. Always maintain a business account and avoid collecting cash as much as possible in other to be accountable to your business.
What do you like most about what you do?
I love the fact that fashion forever evolves and it’s not a want but a NEED for everyone.
What has been your greatest learning experience and/or challenges regarding being an entrepreneur?
This job has taught me patience and also made me understand it’s ok to say NO to some clients based on maintaining a certain standard because am trying to build a brand and not just trying to sell clothes. Most importantly, being an entrepreneur you need to make sure you save towards seasons when market is not moving especially when you have staff to pay. That’s why you need to operate it as a real business; every penny counts.
Is there anything you would like to share with my readers regarding following their dream/passion.
No dream is to big or small. If your dream doesn’t scare you then it’s not one. Make sure you start no matter how big or small, just start and give it your all. That’s why you have to have a burning passion for what you do and not just about cashing out from the business.
What are your plans for the future?
I plan enrolling for a Masters program in International Business, attend workshops/seminars to elevate my earning potential and network. I am also trying to build a brand to be reckoned with in the universe.
Which city/state/country has been your favorite to visit and why?
Ilorin /Enugu, in Nigeria because of its landscapes and serenity. My dream to visit Budapest, Hungary someday. It sounds like a wonderful place from what I have read and pictures I have seen of the place.
How do you relax? Favorite actor/movie/book & why?
Workout helps to deal with stress. Sorry, not a movie person. However, I enjoy reading motivational books.
Thanks for this opportunity to be futured on your blog .
There you have it. Isn’t she impressive and inspirational?
As you can see from the some of the pictures that I have some of her designs; all not pictured above. Comfort is very important to me and all her clothing are not only comfortable but sophisticated, stylish and sexy. This are also outfits you can wear when expecting as there is plenty room for you and your growing baby. Every time, I wear any of her designs to church or for an event, I always get compliments. Most importantly, I feel very confident when wearing them.

Wow! Love her interview and her style! So inspiring to hear about her experiences as an entrepreneur.
beautiful bold prints and colors. Perfect for a fierce woman. Great company!
Thanks for the kind words.
Her designs are gorgeous and I love how colorful they are. I feel like many fashions are now wanting us to wear washed out clothing and not bright colors and I wish they were more colorful.
Her story and background are truly inspiring! I always admire entrepreneurs and enjoy learning how they got started.
Wow, what an awesome opportunity! I really hope you learned a lot from your experience!
How interesting to hear about an entrepreneur from Nigeria. Living in the US, I rarely hear much about other countries except bad news. It’s nice to hear the good stuff.
That’s an amazing interview! She is so inspirational and talented!
She really does have quite the unique look with all those different styles of clothing. I love the colors there. Very beautiful. And it’s a great interview.
It’s very apparent how much passion she has for her biz and how much work she is willing to put into to make sure TCN succeeds.
Super cute clothes! Good for her to take the risk and do what she felt was right. it’s hard to leave a steady income to pursue your passion but I’m happy it is working out for her!!
Brave woman and fashionista! I love how she incorporates de colors and prints of her beloved Nigeria in her clothes! Great post!
Thanks so much you all for the awesome comments and words of encouragement got me motivated to do more and be at my best .
