Book Review: Instant Insight

Instant Insight by J. Lenora Bresler, J.D., SPHR, ASC, is one of my top 5 books I read last year that I will certainly recommend. This book single-handedly transformed and maximized my personal and professional relationships. It outlines 15 Questions the author guarantees will help you learn, motivate, persuade, coach, develop and relate/work with people on a personal and professional level.

Here are the 15 Questions. I’ll encourage you to answer them and also ask family, friends and coworkers as well. Enjoy!

1) What three words would you most like people to use to describe you?

2) What is the greatest compliment that has been or could be paid to you?

3) What is one misunderstanding people might have about you?

4) What is your prime working time?

5) What is your crunch time?

6) How do you learn best?

7) How do you like to be recognized?

8) Do you prefer to receive information in detail or summary?

9) Are you more creative in group brainstorming or individual reflection?

10) Are you more comfortable with structure or spontaneity?

11) In a close decision, will you be more persuaded by logic or relationship?

12) What is your pet peeve?

13) What would earn someone your enthusiastic support and loyalty?

14) What would cause you to dislike/disrespect someone so much you would end a relationship?

15) What has been your greatest learning experience?

    1. I am so happy you think the questions are great. Asides from it prompting you to reflect, they are actually not that difficult to answer. Hope you give them a try.

  1. That is a list of interesting questions. I think these questions can make an interesting game. I’m a fan of reading, it looks like this is the book I’m looking for.

    1. It most certainly makes for an interesting game. It equally could be a great ice breaker question; questions #1, 12 and 15 will be great for that and depending on how comfortable you are with the group, perhaps question #3 — this is a great question to have everyone start on a clean note or to table issues they think people my have about them. I hope you pick up and enjoy this book as much as I have 🙂

  2. Nice book. I can do this to ask my friends too, on how well they know me! :If we both have the same answers. But not all of course. just the easy one. Thanks!

    1. I am glad you plan on asking friends. Just wanted to note that one of the goals of answering this questions with family or friends isn’t to have the same answers (yes, occasionally, you may have similar responses) but to understand, embrace and respect each others differences, values and expectations IF they have any. Thanks for stopping by.

  3. These are some good and thought provoking questions. I would find some of them pretty hard to answer. This must have been an interesting book.

    1. It most certainly was an interesting read/book. I hope you dont get too intimidated by the questions and answer them as best as you can. Thanks for stopping by!

  4. I like the 15 questions. They are very random and I could see how they would narrow down the possibilities. Getting others involved is a nice perspective too. Sounds like a good book. I like self help books and anything that will help me evaluate myself and become a better me is a good book.

    1. If you like self help books, you’ll definitely enjoy the introspective this questions will provide. Thanks for stopping by.

  5. This really looks interesting,. I think answering these questions truly can bring out many things hidden inside us or even in the relations. I’m sure, I’m gonna complete these question and think over their answers.

  6. I am definitely going to be finding out what answers my nearest and dearest would give to these questions especially number 1.

  7. I have just written those questions, I’ll try this with a few friends tomorrow and see what the results are:) I’m not sure I can answer these myself. Good list:)

  8. This sounds like an interesting book, there are certainly some challenging questions there to consider. I love the concept of personal development and always pushing yourself a little more. Mich x

  9. This sounds like a really interesting book. The questions have got me thinking but they are quite tricky because I feel I fall into a mix of both options.

  10. Love these questions. Really made me think. I think it’s also great to ask ourselves who are you trying to be to please others and who do we truly want to be?

  11. I love the question – how do you like to be recognised. Sometimes this is praise, or a hug, other times, in work situations not being taken for granted and obviously being paid appropriately for the job in hand.

  12. These are really good questions! I agree that some the answers come really easily but others I’m not really sure about!

    1. Simply answer them, if you would, open-mindedly. I find that those who overthink it have difficulty answering the questions.

  13. These are great questions and I’m not sure I can answer lots of them without quite a bit of thought. Makes you realise how many of our interactions with others are on autopilot.

  14. This is a really good idea as you can really think about your life with these questions! Also good to share with friends and family, X

  15. Need to write all these questions down now and do a self-assessment! They’re really hard to answer but I think it’s well worth and can help you improve lots as a person 🙂

  16. These are some really good questions, though some are definitely tougher for me to answer than others, and some I might even be stumped on and take way longer.

  17. Thank you for sharing this post. I have seen a lot of these type of questions going around in social media, but they are not as in-depth as these ones you posted. I will try and answer them myself. I think there is a lot of things I will learn with this exercise.

  18. Great questions, I think it’s a fun idea for people to answer them every few years, imagine how cool it would be to see how we change!

  19. I love this and all the reflection the questions involve. For me the question: Are you more comfortable with structure or spontaneity – deffo structure x

    1. I’m great you were able to identify what you are. I also think it also helps us know how to embrace others that are not structured!

  20. These are some really interesting questions and pushes your mind to think. Some questions are easy to figure out and I can answer them, while for some I need to think hard 😐
