How I Journal

In this video, I explained why I started writing, how I started and the forms of journaling I engaged in showing my actual journals and how I utilized them.

The purpose of this video is to introduce those that don’t already journal to it and most importantly to emphasize that there are different ways to express ones self when it come to writing. Be it Bullet Journaling (Bujo), listing, drawing, painting, doodling, book scraping and/or adult coloring, it doesn’t matter so long as you recognize one that is an healthy outlet for you.

Please share the preferred way you like to keep record; physical journal, audio and/or electronic which has become my favorite.

  1. It will always be a natural way for me, an acoustic straight-to-paper way. But I’m interested in getting into a digital format and videos. Doddling and book scrapping are perfect newbie ways to get into it!

  2. I am definitely more into journaling digitally. Mostly because my own handwriting is so awful! But, I agree with how important it is to record and journal yourself!

    1. Yes, for those of us with not too great handwriting (depending on the time of the day or mood), Yes, I would recommend digital/electronic journaling but you already know that!

  3. I haven’t started journaling yet (crazy, I know) because it’s almost intimidating to figure out where to start, but this was really helpful! I loved being able to see your journal & remind myself that there really are no rules. 🙂 thanks for sharing!

  4. Oh my, I find myself collecting journals and never finishing them. Blogging became my “journaling” and I do find myself sometimes longing to put a pen to paper.

    1. Blogging could be a form of journaling as you’re documenting a part of your life. However, the most important thing for me with journaling is transparency and one couldnt optimize that with a blog.

  5. I don’t really journal much but I guess my blog sort of counts for one? While its not really a lifestyle blog that blog has been with me through great and tough time and I catalogged it all in one way. I think that starting it while away from your family sounds like a good idea – I should have maybe tried that when I had moved away and was homesick.

  6. I use to journal all the time. Now that I have kids I just can’t seem to find the time. I’ve been really bad about being consistent with it lol.

    1. I wasn’t always consistent with it either but once I start to see the benefit of journaling especially regarding my mental health, I started to be more mindful about it!

  7. I love to journal. My favourite way to journal is online … although I’d love to lean to bullet journal one day.

  8. I wish I had more time to journal myself. It seems really therapeutic and a little hobby that provides some me-time too.

  9. I love to journal!! There is something about pen and paper and putting all my thoughts down that is so therapeutic!

  10. I love to do gratitude journaling. I have a journal with specific prompts and it really has helped me to laser focus the positive.

  11. I don’t journal often, only when I am feeling overwhelmed and need to get my thoughts out. When I do, it’s usually pencil to paper because I feel like I can get my thoughts out better that way even though I can type faster than I can write.

    1. I can relate as I type better than I write. You should consider opening an email account exclusively for journaling. Good luck!

  12. When I was younger I would write in my journal quite often. I think I’ll start again because it was very relaxing.

  14. I would definitely say that in a way that our blogs can be digital journals, as I tend to talk about my life on my blog. Although when it comes to traditional journaling I have not done it in a while but it did help me come to terms with and process my feelings a lot as a kid. It is a very cathartic medium.

  15. I have an actual obsession with journalling! I try to bujo every day, but then I also like to keep a more detailed journal/diary with my thoughts and feelings, as well. I’ve been doing this since I was a young kid and have kept it up ever since!

  16. I like to journal, unfortunately, Although, I no longer do it on a daily basis due to my crazy life schedule, I still have my journal and every now and then I try to do it.

  20. Doing writing on paper makes me feel special. My husband is writer and he tends write the hardest part of the book on paper and then retype them into the book. So far it works great for him

  21. I don’t journal but I do have an organizer and write my plans, or jot down happy moments. I have given journals as gifts to my kids to document what they want though.

  22. I haven’t tried all the ways you mention there is to journal. but I have found a way that works for me and it makes me happy!

  23. I’ve heard a lot about journalling recently. I’ve never really done it myself, but it is definitely something I would like to try. Thanks for sharing how you journal. It must be nice to look back on them as the years pass.

  24. I actually have a travel journal which was also a path to self discovery. I love to journal my travels, but I also do a little bit of water a color in it. I had no idea that I had any talent whatsoever, but I’ve created something that I truly love and enjoy working with.

  26. I’m still working on consistency in journaling. I get started but fizzle out. I need to find a way to make it a habit.

  27. It’s intere to see your journey and how you have changed over the years. I don’t journal, but I wish I did. Is probably start out with a physical journal, because I spend so much time blogging, it would feel good to get out the old pen and paper.

  28. Journal is great, some might undermine the idea but it’s a better pen down. U got lots sister full the whole books, that’s realistic work done there. U must have come up movie script from them?

  29. I’ve always loved journaling! I currently have 4 active journals. I have my everyday life journal, my gratitude journal, my dream journal and my goals journal. One day I hope to add a travel journal!

  30. Thanks for sharing the ways you journal. I’ve journaled for as long as I can remember – long form physical journals tho. Can’t get into bujo-wish I had the time. Have tried others (audio & vid) but nothing replaces the feel of pen to paper. 💕 Xo, Evelyn, PathofPresence.com 🦋
